Arlene was born June 13, 1947 in Johnson County, Kentucky, daughter of the late James Arley Burkett and Loretta Fairchild Burkett. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by daughter, Rebekah Lynn Nickell and son Joseph Wayne Nickell.
She is survived by three brothers, James B. Burkett, Jr., and wife Brenda of Paintsville, Kentucky, Michael Burkett and wife Karen of Staffordsville, Kentucky and Tony Burkett and wife Myra of Paintsville, Kentucky; four sisters, Darlene Rice and husband Phillip of Bonita Springs, Florida, Carolynn Vaughn and husband Aaron of Dayton, Ohio, Debi Pinson and husband John of Paintsville, Kentucky, amd Kaye Burkett Morrison and husband Roger of Paintsville, Kentucky; and one grandson, Joseph Cole Nickell of West Liberty, Kentucky.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 15, 2018 in the Tom's Creek Free Will Baptist Church with James Kelly Caudill officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Park, Staffordsville, Kentucky. Friends may visit the Jones-Preston Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 from 12:00 Noon until 8:00 p.m. Visitation Thursday, February 15, 2018 will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. at Tom's Creek Free Will Baptist.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are requested to Tom's Creek Church Missionary Fund by contacting the Jones-Preston Funeral Home at (606) 789-3501.
